Rendering

Rendering is a type of plaster which is usually applied to the external walls of a house. There are various textures and materials which offer a variety of finishes. There are also different renders according to the thermal seal you want to add to your home.

Artex Removal

Artex differs from plaster in that it was marketed as a material intended to receive a textured finish, thus enabling a ceiling to be finished without plastering skills. It was very widely used in Britain in the 1970s, mainly with the familiar stippled and swirled patterns.

Skimming

Skimming is a plastering technique which involves applying a thin coat to walls to create the smooth surface required for painting or decorating. Either the skim plaster is applied to an existing plaster finish, or it’s used to cover plasterboard.

Dry Lining

Dry-lining a wall means attaching plasterboard to a wall, which gives you a smooth finish to decorate straight away. It’s much easier to get a good result this way than with wet plaster and it is easier alternative to re-plastering.

Patching Work

Although you may not notice it, the plaster in your walls is an important part of your wall’s structure. It gives your walls a smooth facade and improves the strength and stability of your walls. Without plaster, you would have rough walls that are difficult to paint or wallpaper.

Traditional Two Coat

Two–coat work is described as render and set on walls, and lath, plaster and set, or lath, lay and set on laths. The resulting walls are slightly irregular, wavy and textured, and as a consequence they take far less time and skill to apply than traditional plaster.
